Presentation

With the organization of TELEciência 2001- III International Scientific Film Festival, we are willing to continue (after the commemorations of the Technology and Science Fortnight and the celebration of the Science Day) the sleepy movement in the universities towards a scientific culture for everyone, to the spread of the scientific culture. We understand that the promotion and divulgation of scientific knowledge that is possible with the audiovisual system - film, is essential to the development and innovation of our society. Note that these are not simple expositive documentaries aiming only the scientific contents. It's a tight connection between Science and Art, produced for television broadcast and, not just as a simple class, but as scientific (contents) and artistic (form) work. Naturally we speak of an artistic - scientific culture.

So, from November's 19th to 25th, (24th November - International Science Day) will take place, at UTAD, a meeting of several people, whose intentions are to promote the scientific-artistic culture. A platform for reflection and meditation about scientific problems will be built, encouraging the connection between investigation and the industry, promoting the science and technology. teaching by more attractive means, that those used in the classic academic formation, resorting to the audio-visual systems: film or broadcasting quality video. Goals - Report science in a way that it becomes accessible and attractive to the main public, with an artistic format. - Promote the interest for television and film themes, treated in a scientific approach. - Promote the expansion of scientific knowledge through films. - Create a catalogue of films specialized in scientific themes. Target Audience Main population, in particular students and teachers, industrial businessmen opened for innovation and science, and producers that may be interested in embracing scientific contents.
