Il y a plus de cinq mille ans, au coeur du désert du Karakoum, au Turkmenistan, s'étendait une ville ... Les sables l'ont engloutie. Aujourd'hui, cette cité va renaître grâce à une équipe d'archéologues italiens, russes et turkmènes. Les recherches menées depuis dix ans par l'archéologue Gabriele Rossi Osmida, ont permis de révéler l'existence d'une civilisation qui rayonnait au troisième millénaire av JC. Elle a été baptisée " la civilisation des Oasis " parce qu'elle est constituée d'un chapelet de cités réparties tout au long d'une route commerçante qui passe par le Turkménistan et l'Afghanistan. Mais cette civilisation demeure pour l'essentiel encore mystérieuse. Quelles étaient les croyances et le mode de vie de ce peuple ? Quel rapport entretenait cette civilisation avec les autres grandes cultures contemporaines de la Mésopotamie, de l'Elam ou de l'Indus ? Pour lever une part de ces mystères, l'archéologue italien Gabriele Rossi Osmida a entrepris aujourd'hui une nouvelle expédition dont l'objectif est de mettre au jour une ville entière ! Ses découvertes vont le mener jusqu'aux origines des premiers grands mythes de l'humanité. Au temps où l'homme inventait les histoires qui allaient fonder ses croyances.
More than six thousand years ago, in the heart of the desert of Karakoum, in Turkmenistan, there was a city... Which was gobbled-up by sands. Today, a team of Italian, French and Turkmen archaeologists are aiming to bring it back to life. The searches led for ten years by the archaeologist Gabriele Rossi Osmida, allowed to reveal the existence of a civilisation which was conspicuous in the fourth century BC: the civilization of Oases. And the essential part of this civilisation remains still mysterious. What was the origin of these people, their customs, their rites? What gods did they honour? What language did they speak? Did they use writing? In order to give an answer to these questions, the archaeologists begin a new campaign of excavations with the objective to bring to light a whole city! Hidden by the desert's sands, this extremely well preserved city and virgin of any pillaging will allow them to accumulate numerous indications and maybe to reveal its name. The resurrection of this city also represents an incredible stake, for the scientific community and Unesco, to a better understanding of the antique world and the relationship between the civilisation of Oases and the other big contemporary civilisations.
